From Tattykeel to Hilltop Farms
For us, developing an Australian White program meant more than simply purchasing genetics from overseas. We wanted to better understand the sheep, the breeding philosophy behind them and the production environment where the breed originated.
In 2025, Doug and Lisa Edge traveled to Australia and visited Tattykeel, providing an opportunity to see the breeding program firsthand and spend time with the people who have played such an important role in developing the Australian White breed.
That experience gave us an even greater appreciation for the genetics we were bringing to Hilltop Farms and strengthened our commitment to building upon those bloodlines in the United States.
Home of Boomerang
Hilltop Farms is proud to be home to Boomerang, one of the most popular U.S.-born Australian White sires.
Boomerang represents what we are working to accomplish with our breeding program: using imported Australian genetics to produce the next generation of Australian Whites here in the United States.
His influence continues to grow as his genetics are used by breeders around the country. In May 2026, a Boomerang son sold for $9,950 to Flying H Farms, making him the top-selling ram in the RSG International Genetics Sale.
For us, accomplishments like this aren't simply about sale prices. The real measure of a sire is the quality and consistency of the offspring he produces and the contribution those offspring make to other breeding programs.

Ways you can get involved with our Australian White program.

From Our Pastures to the Local Table
Our Australian White program isn't focused solely on breeding stock. We also believe in demonstrating the breed's value where it ultimately matters—the consumer's table.
Hilltop Farms supplies The Market in Pendleton, Indiana, with locally raised F1 Australian White lamb cuts, giving consumers in our own community an opportunity to experience locally produced lamb with Australian White influence.
That local relationship connects two important parts of our program: producing better sheep and creating greater demand for American lamb.
For Hilltop Farms, raising sheep has always been about more than the show ring or sale ring. Livestock ultimately needs to create value throughout the production chain—from the breeder and commercial producer to the local family purchasing lamb for dinner.

Seedstock Genetics
At Hilltop Farms, our Australian White program is focused on producing elite seedstock genetics that can make an impact in both purebred and commercial sheep operations. Our goal is to develop genetics that provide breeders with opportunities to advance their programs while continuing to expand the quality and genetic diversity of Australian White sheep in the United States.
Hilltop Farms offers genetics through multiple options, including fresh and frozen semen, embryos, quality stud rams and breeding ewes. The use of advanced reproductive technologies also allows genetics from our leading sires and females to reach breeders throughout the United States.
Genetic verification and accurate pedigree information are important components of our breeding program. Hilltop Farms utilizes Neogen DNA testing to help document and verify the genetics behind our animals. Eligible sheep are registered with the Australian White Sheep Breeders Association registry in Australia and the U.S. Australian White registry, providing breeders with documented pedigrees and greater confidence in the genetics they are adding to their flocks.

Looking Ahead
Our Australian White program continues to grow as additional genetics become available and we evaluate the next generations produced at Hilltop Farms.
We remain focused on utilizing quality Australian genetics, advanced reproductive technologies and practical selection to develop sheep that can contribute to the continued growth of the Australian White breed in the United States.
From Tattykeel in Australia to Hilltop Farms in Indiana—and ultimately to breeding programs and dinner tables across America—we're excited about where these genetics can take us next.
